Hi there.
I'm looking for a tax program which ask me things only once and which does
not overwrite already entered data.
TurboTax on the web does both. Besides it does not run on WindowsXP 64 Bit
edition -- even in 32bit mode.
Especially the tax program should be able to download data from my broker
and help me with my stock sales and buyes.

Give it a rest. The tax software can not possibly be able to download the
broker data, given that there are thousands of brokers issuing reports and
providing on-line data, each in a different format.

In addition not all broker sales will report - or even have - the basis
data.

I use Quicken to maintain my investment data. Quicken can also
download from my broker. (Although I don't use that feature. I don't
want my programs talking to each other. They may be plotting something
behind my back.) Turbo tax can use Quicken data to input into the
program.

I've been using turbo tax for many years. I was a little
surprised this year. It seemed a little more clunky than
usual. Some of the forms had little scroll boxes that
wouldn't scroll properly. The program does seem to forget
what you've already done at the interview level and repeats
itself needlessly. The Calif state version has always
seemed rough, esp funny since they're based in Calif. Maybe
they don't use their own program ?

I esp got a kick out of the downgrading of the "deluxe"
version. Now you need the "premier" version if you want
them to tell you what they used to tell you with deluxe.
Love the way they try and sell it to you mid way through the
program.

Luckily using it every year kind of inoculates you to
excessive expectations from the boys at intuit.

Just grind the fucker out.
